So in English we have fill in words like "huh?" "like" and "no way!"
In Spanish, Claire has the word "Ai!"
She uses it all the time in lots of situations. Lara always finds this funny because suddenly hot twenty-something Claire seems like a caricature of a fifty-year-old fat Mexican woman from a bad western. So Lara laughs inappropriately and all the Spanish-speaking people around her assume she´s misunderstanding the conversation. Which she probably is.
But this morning, Lara was awoken by asleep Claire exclaiming "Ai!"
Happily, we leave for French-speaking Morocco soon.
