Day 170: Bali makes Lara tense (now with sound!)

Actually, not at all.

Bali is supposed to be a tropical island paradise getaway. Bali is all these things.

Really.

Especially as my current residence is with a lovely British couple who ended up here accidentally a year and a half ago. (Hi Sam and Lucy) They are running a truly wonderful hotel, complete with hundreds of DVDs (came home exhausted today from lying in the sun...why is that?) and real coffee in the morning.

It is a small outpost of British-ness in a sea of hte most Californian expat community I have ever seen. I have heard more "dudes" and "way" (not to stereotype becuase it's actually true) than I have heard in months. Though Claire does overuse "dude..." and it has spread to me so that I now use it more than either of us. Dude, way.

One fun fact about Bali aside from the fact that there are "like way many breaks, dude" is that their language does not have tense apparently. If I wanted to say that I went to the beach yesterday, and it was really nice, I would come up with the extremely complex "I go beach yesterday. Good."

I like this language and feel that C and I should incorporate it into more of our editing work. To the point and brief. I have also met 8 people with the same name so far, as everyone names their children according to birth order. This could seriously help me and everyone else who is bad with names.

Life really is simpler here, and I like it. Claire...what say a couple months here next year? Here is a great Mash clip of Lara.

Lara,

You never have any sound! It is so sad and, yet, so funny...

Yeah, really. What it sounds like is static. Knowing nothing about camcorders, or YouTube for that matter, I can't help ya'.

It's not just Savvy ... I can't hear anything but static too! Same goes for Claire's videos.

If they work ok on your computers, maybe you could try re-converting and re-uploading them?
