Day 427: Home Again Home Again

Well we’re back and extremely victorious. 25 people set out to run the marathon, and 25 ran it. Another 55 came along to cheer, and they all had a splendid time with no catastrophes. It really seems to all have gone better even than we could have hoped.

Claire and I were not the fastest runners ever (I came in under six hours, but not by much) but finish we did. We feel very pleased with ourselves, not the least because all the kids finished and some of them actually were extremely fast, breaking three and a half hours. This is always impressive, especially so on your first marathon, and especially so on one of the top ten hardest marathons in the world. We are so proud, it’s kind of obscene.

Turns out Kenyans can run damn well…who knew…

But now Claire and I have holed up and are sleeping the marathon and the lingering sickness off. My illness peaked the day before the marathon, and Claire’s seems to have peaked the day after. So not everything is ideal, but more on the good stuff later…off to bed with us. For the third time today,..

That's wonderful! I have been thinking about you all weekend wondering how it went. I'm amazed that you were able to run that well when both of you were sick!
