All the preparation has been leading up to marathon weekend at Mt. Kenya, which is, incidentally NOW! Twenty Nine of us head off to the marathon today and the cheerers all come tomorrow to meet us at the race starting line.
In the last week of prepping, it's amazing how little thought has gone into the actual facetthat we are running a marathon tomorrow (at this point tomorrow we will be at mile 9...). Indeed, the nightmare of making homemade race packets, booking and rebooking the buses because the Kenyan Ministry of Education blatantly stole them from us after we paid deposits, getting our 400 teeshirts, buying lunches for all cheerers and racers, arguing with secondary girls about why they won't run in "rubbers" (biker shorts), subbing a runner at the last minute, trying to find one lost runner before we leave in 45 minutes, blah blah blah has all taken its toll. Lara is sickish, Claire has a cold, and we are tired. But also so very, very excited.
We have been prepping for this for a long time, and are so thrilled that it has come to happen finally! So, until we return sore and exhausted on Saturday, see us on the homepage of Competitor.com! Because, we are competitors after all;)

i forgot to tell you...please do NOT overuse any analgesic creams...some poor high school track star from ny died recently from a ben gay overdose. i'm not even kidding. xo
