Day 121: Himalayas Ho! (read: we will be gone a long time)

Because we have spent too much time hating slow and dodgy internet, looking at computer screens and working recently, we are setting out for Everest Base Camp at an obscenely early hour tomorrow. Of course, as intrepid and rugged explorers, we do not actually mind the early hour.

This is not true at all. We have scheduled naps today. And we are may not be as rugged as most making this trek. We are constantly offended by Lara's hair in its current grow out from shaved head stage (to be fair: most of the complaining comes from Lara herself...though strangers occasionally add their two cents), and do things like makeovers at 1 AM in our hotel.

But a-hiking we will go, and we will probably buy some knock-off North Face gear, so we feel that will help us blend in.

So wish us luck and send prayers as we voyage out to brave things like avalanches (not the season), wild yaks (not usually wild), no internet access (not so much a bad thing), and the Yeti (not so much a real thing.

So goodbye and peace to all for the next 12 days...

"I notice that you have not put up Google Ads on your blog. Your blog is being advertised by Blogger at no cost to you and probably being visited by 2*30 (i.e. a giga) times. You could have earned enough to pay for your trip."

Not exactly, it is about 2500 readers a day tailing off to 1500 readers a day by the end of your listing. That only accounts for about 3 or 5 $ a day addsense money. :(

If the Yetis attack, just remember all they want is to steal from your base station's internet connection.

They're big uploaders, those Yeti, and they'll stop at nothing to get all the extra bandwidth they need.

Tiny Tones said...

Ah yes! Everest. I remember it well. From my experience there are only a few things you need to keep in mind for a successful trip: 1. remember to pack a spare cardigan 2. smoking at such high altitudes isn't easy, and 3. there are plenty of smart jokes to be made at yaks' expense. Good luck girls!

So, I trudge on. But I don't write jsut for me. I write so others can read my stuff.
